Etchings a sparkling business
Sugar Pine Realty-Better Homes & Gardens has four offices throughout Tuolumne County to help homeowners market their property, and is the only real estate office in the county authorized to use the Better Homes & Gardens name.
"Better Homes & Gardens is a great name for us," said owner Emmett Brennan, "because it typifies what we do. We represent the home and family."
Emmett started Sugar Pine Realty in a small building in Sugar Pine in 1977. The company franchised with Better Homes & Gardens in 1985.
AT HOME -- Artisan Shirley Wilson Rose and her husband Scott are familiar faces at the annual show.
You don't have to be in Tuolumne County long to see a sampling of Wilson Studios Glass Etchings.
They are scattered throughout the area in restaurants, galleries, residences and other businesses.
In 1979, Shirley Wilson Rose's desire to use her artistic abilities was spurred by a local stained glass artist.
Armed with a how-to magazine story and a borrowed compressor, she enthusiastically began doing her own etching and Wilson Studios was born.
Wilson Studios offers etchings for the home and business, including doors and sidelights, kitchen cabinets, mirrors, signs, back bars and logos on assorted glassware.
For gifts and special occasions, a wide variety of vases, glasses, mugs and such are available as well as personalized toasting flutes and trophy items.
Shirley will design to each customer's specifications. Designs can be done in any style, including Victorian, art deco, art nouveau, wildlife and florals.
The business operates out of Scott and Shirley Rose's family home, which also houses Scott's business, A-Rose Plumbing.
Scott and Shirley have three children, Rebecca Morgan, 26, Israel DeHerrera, 23, and Taylor Rose, 9.
At the Home and Garden Show, Wilson Studios will have a variety of Shirley's etched art pieces.
An etched glass art piece will be given away in a drawing.
