Walls get all the attention
Sugar Pine Realty-Better Homes & Gardens has four offices throughout Tuolumne County to help homeowners market their property, and is the only real estate office in the county authorized to use the Better Homes & Gardens name.
"Better Homes & Gardens is a great name for us," said owner Emmett Brennan, "because it typifies what we do. We represent the home and family."
Emmett started Sugar Pine Realty in a small building in Sugar Pine in 1977. The company franchised with Better Homes & Gardens in 1985.

FRIENDS AND PARTNERS Connie Yturiaga (left) and Cindy Gattoni will display their work at the Home and Garden Show.
Beautiful walls are the business of Connie Yturiaga and Cindy Gattoni, owners of Walls Unlimited.
The duo are in their sixth year of business together and have settled in comfortably.
"Business is doing very well," said Cindy. "It's grown progressively over the past six years."
What Cindy and Connie do are walls, whether it be painting marbling, sponging, stenciling or ragging, wallpaper or any other technique desired.
They also have done fences, mailboxes and specialized home exterior work.
Connie and Cindy started the business to accommodate busy family lives. Cindy's husband Frank is a firefighter and her children are Angela, 15, and Danny, 14. Connie's husband Lynn is the owner of Cold Springs Fuel & Food, and their children are Julie, 24, and Melissa Carpenter, 21.
They say their clientele mostly find out about them through word of mouth and through the annual Home and Garden Show.
"Some people (former clients) look for us specifically at the show to see what we're doing," said Connie.
Since the duo is always updating their techniques, there's always something new for people to see. Through reading and experimentation, Connie and Cindy keep in step with current trends. In July, for instance, they will attend a painting seminar in San Diego to learn the latest techniques in faux finishes and stenciling.
A this year's Home and Garden Show, the duo will display photos and samples of their work. They also will hold a prize drawing for a $25 gift certificate to The Peppery Gar and Brill.
