Ringens are on top of things in Tuolumne County
Mother Lode Internet, the first Internet provider in Tuolumne County, is still a family-owned-and-operated business that plans to keep its focus on the Mother Lode.
Although Dennis and Brenda Dahlin have incorporated the business, they remain the only stockholders.
FAMILY BUSINESS -- Marianne and Tod Ringen own and operate Ringen Roofing.
Tod Ringen of Ringen Roofing has a history in Tuolumne County that goes back to the 1960s when he moved here as a teenager with his parents.
He spent some time in Alaska and lived in the Bay Area while completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter and becoming partner in a Bay Area roofing company.
He and his wife Marianne, who is from Marin County, were married while he lived in the Bay Area.
They have three sons, Jesse, 25, T.J., 16, and Jeremy, 17. Jesse and his wife Robyn of Santa Rosa have a 19-month-old daughter, Annber.
Ringen sold his part of the Bay Area roofing company about nine years ago, and the family moved to Tuolumne County.
He and Marianne now own their roofing company, doing all types of roofing.
At the Home and Garden Show, they will have examples of what they can do and some of the products they use, including products from Elks Roofing Products, which Ringen said is the leading manufacturer of composition shingles in the world.
"The credit for the success of our business goes to the Lord," said Ringen. "He has blessed this business immensely since the day we opened it and gave it up to Him. If he wasn't blessing us, we would be starving."
Ringen and Marianne are active members of Chapel in the Pines.
Both are also members of the Sierra Professional Association.
In addition to being a partner in Ringen Roofing, Marianne is a financial advisor with American Express Financial Advisors.
