Cellular service comes to where you need it
Mother Lode Internet, the first Internet provider in Tuolumne County, is still a family-owned-and-operated business that plans to keep its focus on the Mother Lode.
Although Dennis and Brenda Dahlin have incorporated the business, they remain the only stockholders.
MOBILE CELLULAR SERVICE is the specialty of Dave Owens, who comes to his customers.
David Owens, owner of Owens Mobile Cellular, serves customers from from Jackson to Mariposa in the Mother Lode and into the San Joaquin and Stanislaus valleys.
His specialty is that he works from his car, taking the equipment, telephones and accessories to his customers to set them up with cellular service.
"All you have to do is call," he said, "and I will come to your home or business with everything you need to start your cellular service."
Owens has been in the cellular telephone business in the mountain counties for six years, almost since it was first offered in this area.
Cellular service has improved dramatically since then as antennae have been installed, making service accessible from hard-to-reach areas.
He also offers satellite service for car telephones.
"With satellite service, you have coverage basically anywhere unless you are in a cave," said Owens.
A long-time Tuolumne County resident, Owens attended Summerville elementary and high schools and graduated from Sonora High School in 1961. He graduated from Cal Poly and was a first lieutenant in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Owens will display a full line of cellular telephones and state-wide pagers at the Home and Garden Show.
