Business offers hot and cold
Steve Souders of Sonora will demonstrate the Host Dry Chemical Carpet Cleaning Process at the Home and Garden Show.
He will also have a display of 1998 Patriot High Performance Cleaning Machines and lots of information.
He said the Patriot cleaning machines are a high technology replacement for modern day vacuum cleaners.
HIGH COUNTRY representatives at the Sonora store are owner Bill Deplich (left) and store manager Rick Montgomery.
"We take care of our customers after the sale," said Bill Deplich, who owns High Country Spa & Stove Center with his wife Barbara. "Our success in this business has been because of our satisfied customers."
Bill has been a general contractor for 21 years.
He and Barbara opened their first store in Arnold in 1983, and added a second store in East Sonora in June 1993.
"It was strictly consumer demand," said Bill. "We were coming over here two to three times a week, so we decided to open a store here."
Rick Montgomery manages the Sonora store. He also gives estimates and installs and repairs stoves and fireplaces. In 1992, he was certified as a woodstove technician and fireplace installer by the Wood Heat Education Research Foundation.
Barbara manages the store in Arnold. She has an extensive background in pool and spa water chemistry.
Bill travels between the two locations while working on deliveries, service and installations.
The company handles all of its own installations. When a customer comes into the store for heating needs, for instance, they first discuss what's available. Then an in-field inspection is made to be sure the customer gets the proper size product for his or her home.
After the installation, the staff offers technical support to help the customer properly operate the product, whether it is a wood-burning, pellet-burning or propane fueled stove, or a spa.
High Country is the only authorized dealer in the southern Mother Lode of Hot Spring spas made by Watkins Corp., which is the oldest manufacturer of spas in the country.
All the service technicians are factory trained, and both stores offer spas, gazebos, parts, accessories, chemicals and other support products for spas, as well as a full line of hearth products.
At the Home and Garden Show, the business will have displays of spas and unique wood-burning and propane-fueled hearth products, as well as a chlorine-free spa sanitizing system.
He also will have information about the value of spas in hydrotherapy for people who suffer from arthritis.
