Designer focuses on customers

Steve Souders of Sonora will demonstrate the Host Dry Chemical Carpet Cleaning Process at the Home and Garden Show.
He will also have a display of 1998 Patriot High Performance Cleaning Machines and lots of information.
He said the Patriot cleaning machines are a high technology replacement for modern day vacuum cleaners.

DESIGNER Caara Williams specializes in affordable aesthetics.

Caara Williams has been designing custom homes for more than 20 years.

She is the owner-designer of Design Associates in Twain Harte.

Her specialty is finding out what the owner wants and putting that into practice in the most cost-effective way.

"Couples find me easy to work with because I put their desires into practical use," she said, "and contractors like the fact that I use materials wisely. They are happy with the construction cost."

Her approach to design is to find out "Who are you and where are you going?" After finding out these things, she applies them to the aesthetics and practical aspects of the structure they want built.

"This is especially important when clients are making a major lifestyle change such as relocation or retirement," said Williams.

At the same time, emphasis is placed on the client's budget to insure affordable construction.

She earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of California at Berkeley and has a limited services certificate to teach architecture at the community college level. She is also a professional member of the American Institute of Building Design.

Use of computer assisted drafting and an inkjet plotter have refocused her design and drafting skills, which permits more creative and detailed plans.

Stained glass and quilting further satisfy her desire to put pieces into aesthetic order.

She will have pictures of her work and sample sets of working drawings as well as a computer assisted drafting demonstration at the Home and Garden Show.
