Water woes are washed away with a call

QUALITY -- Scott Chaffee, owner of Canepa and Sons Pump Service

Scott Chaffee, owner of Canepa & Sons Pump Service, has been in business in Tuolumne County since 1992.

"My biggest (concern) is the service, and just doing quality work," he said. "I stand behind what I do."

Chaffee does pump sales and installation for wells or ditch users, and can even help public water system users by adding a booster to their water system, to increase water pressure. Pump installations are done on any well, not just those dug by Canepa & Sons Well Drilling, with whom Chaffee is closely associated.

In addition to pumps, Chaffee offers water filtration and pressure systems, water storage tanks and can do well inspections and pump tests for houses in escrow.

Chaffee has 20 years experience in his line of work, having owned businesses in Southern California specializing in pump and swimming pool services. He began work for Canepa & Sons Pump Service in 1991 and took the business over a short time later.

He has a strong work ethic, and it shows in his work.

"I'd rather not do (a job) than do it wrong," he said.

At the Home and Garden Show, a representative for Hay's Pumps of Fresno will be on hand, along with Chaffee, to answer questions. Canepa & Sons Pump Service is the sole distributor in Tuolumne and parts of Mariposa and Calaveras counties for the company.

Chaffee's booth display is bound to dazzle adults and children alike. A Lacoks sand separator, a device for getting granules out of tap water, will be the center of attention. In it, a mixture of sand and water can be seen swirling like a tornado while the sand is separated and taken out. Last year, "the little kids liked it," Chaffee said.

He will also have his pump truck there, and will hold a drawing for an 85-gallon pressure tank, a $525 value.
