Staff insures customer service

Bill Murphy and his employees at Bill Murphy Insurance are dedicated to the customer service aspect of their business.
"We work real hard to take good care of our customers," Bill said. "People want to be able to rely on us, and that's what we try to do.
"Without them, there's no us."
Bill has about 20 years experience in the insurance field. He opened his office in Sonora in 1994. His wife, Janet, handles the bookkeeping for the business.
Prior to moving to Sonora, Bill managed 22 insurance offices statewide for a company out of Sacramento.
The company offers a full line of insurance services including auto, home, commercial auto and commercial lines. Medical and life insurance is also available.
And each insurance agent, of which there are four, is licensed with the state. There also are four customer service representatives to take care of customer needs.
"What has contributed to our growth," said Bill, "is that we're really customer service oriented."
The company has between 50 and 60 insurance companies it does business with, including Grange Insurance which, Bill said, is willing to take on homeowners, where some insurance companies have cut back on supplying homeowners insurance.
The company also is online at www.billmurphyinsurance.com. The Web page helps eliminate some of the time involved in applying for insurance. Customers can fill in information at the site, email it to Bill and receive a quote, without having to spend a lot of time in the office or on the phone.
"It's great for people who work all day," said Bill. "They can do it at night."
At the Home and Garden Show, Bill and his crew will offer insurance quotes.
