Barry Electric has served the county for over 18 years and has continued to grow and diversify.

"Expansion and restructuring have been the most important things that we've done," said Barry. "We've gone from residential contracting to concentrating our efforts on commercial and industrial contracting, along with keeping up with technological advancements in the satellite industry."

Dennis Dugan, Barry's eldest son, oversees all the electrical contracting and does all the estimating. He has four full-time employees and three part-time employees. Frank DiDomenico serves as the electric service technician and Mike Bacci works as foreman, running all large projects out of the area.

Jody Dugan, the youngest of the family, specializes in electronics repair, satellite installation and service, video surveillance systems, computer controlled alarm systems and telephone system installation and service. Jody runs a computer consulting business with his fiancee Lisa in addition to working with the family business.

Barry concentrates on installation and repair of generators of all types, from home use to cell-sites. He also installs and services most types of solar products, such as photo voltaic, inverters, standby and alternative systems which includes spa, swimming pool and domestic hot water. Barry's previous work experience with PG&E has enabled him to do pole line work along with high voltage splicing. He recently added equipment to locate underground wiring as well as find faults in most any type of wiring.

Barry, who serves on the board of trustees at Sonora High School, is still involved in designing and installing control systems for water companies and is sales manager for the business alongside his wife, Lynda, who works as the office manager. New to the business is full-time bookkeeper Jill Overbaugh.

With the addition of new equipment, Barry Electric is able to provide overhead and underground utility construction and various crane-related contracting, high voltage construction and maintenance as well as commercial lighting maintenance, fire alarm systems and remote power systems.

They maintain a large inventory of power poles and electrical material and can get those hard to find parts, overnight in most cases.

The business offers 24-hour emergency service and repairs almost anything, from phones and VCRs to virtually any satellite system, and provides parts and consulting for the do-it-yourselfer.

They also offer sales and installation of C-band satellite systems, DSS by Hughes, and Primestar. Television sales continue to be a part of the business with the addition of Panasonic TVs and VCRs to the existing line of Zenith products.

The latest addition to Barry Electric is a Generac Generator dealership, which allows them to offer competitive pricing on portable generators as well as standby and prime power units to 1,000 KW.

"We will have a full line of portable and standby generators on display at the Home and Garden Show," said Dennis.
