More than just sheet metal
ANGELS SHEET METAL employees include Joe and Robert Beck, Ireton and Sam Graham, Brian Jirka, Gretchen McReynolds, Darrin and Jerri Mills, Robert Preston, Aaron Sanders, Chad Smith, Janie Stephens, Jeff Tonnesen, Jay Wagner and David Wynne.
Angels Sheet Metal, Inc. in Altaville offers a variety of services to their customers.
The company is run by Jerri Mills, owner and president, and her son, Darrin Mills, who serves as vice-president and secretary.
Angels Sheet Metal was started in 1968 by Bob Eastman, who still works there occasionally. It was incorporated in July 1972. Jerri bought the business 12 years ago.
The company has several divisons of service including complete custom heat and air systems, precision sheet metal, custom sheet metal, distinctive metals, metal fabrication and marine manufacturing.
The business has manufactured parts for houseboats and other marine products for several years, but just recently began building full houseboats.
"We're now in the boat building business," said Darrin, who is in charge of the marine division. Their Millko boats are built at a shop in downtown Angels Camp.
They also manufacture boat parts for other companies and provide major boat repairs and boat recovery for boats that have become submerged.
In the sheet metal departments, customers can get just about anything their heart desires, as long as it's made of metal.
"I would say we're one of the most capable shops (in the area)," Darrin said, referring to their shop full of precision equipment and capable employees. "We have some of the bigger capabilities as far as metal bending ... "
Also, he added, "welding is a major corridor of the company."
They can manufacture flashing, gutters, gates, "anything for your house that is made of metal," Darrin said.
People can also have their original ideas made into metal sculpture. A drawing or piece of art clipped from a magazine is scanned into a computer, and a laser machine cuts out the design.
Their booth at the Home and Garden Show will include displays of architectural and structural steel and marine products.
